Frequently Asked Questions

Who appoints the DMDO and what is the reporting line?

The DMDO is appointed by the Martial Arts Authority of Gujarat (MAAG) Executive Committee following thorough vetting of qualifications and rank. The officer serves a two-year tenure and reports directly to the State Development Directorate.

How can a local martial arts academy affiliate with MAAG?

The academy director submits the Affiliation Application along with instructor black belt credentials and safety compliance documents. The DMDO inspects the facility and recommends approval to the State Office.

Is the DMDO authorized to collect cash or registration fees directly?

No. All affiliation, certification, and tournament entry fees must strictly be transacted via official digital MAAG bank channels. No officer is authorized to accept cash payments.

Which martial arts disciplines fall under the DMDO mandate?

All disciplines recognized under MAAG—including Karate, Taekwondo, Wushu, Kickboxing, Judo, Muay Thai, and traditional Indian combat arts (Kalaripayattu, Gatka, Malla Yuddha).

How do athletes qualify for Gujarat State Sports Quota benefits?

Athletes competing in MAAG-sanctioned district and state championships receive verifiable points and certificates that comply with state educational sports quotas and civil recruitment standards.

How can a school request a self-defense or martial arts clinic?

School administrators can contact the district desk using the inquiry form below. The DMDO coordinates certified, background-cleared instructors to conduct workshops.
